From a PDF course booklet to its own platform

The GWR used to send out its course programme as a PDF and took bookings over the phone. Today three education programmes with 302 courses run on a platform of their own, which the cooperative maintains itself. Bilingual, with online booking that meets Italian law, built in 243 hours to go-live and developed ticket by ticket ever since.

Idea & concept

Three programmes under one roof: continuing education, the Integrated Adult Education Centre (IVHS) and the summer school. Each with its own presence, courses and venues, but a shared backend.

Booking platform

302 courses, each with its own page. Search and filter by category, venue, instructor and season, and every filter shows its result count in advance. Online booking for individuals and companies, with waiting list and pre-registration.

Backend functions

Courses, dates, instructors, venues, bookings and customers in one system. Publish several courses in one click, permissions per area, a change log with before and after.

Administration

Colours, fonts, logo and home page are changed by the GWR team through 90 settings, with no line of code and no phone call. A whole booklet of 83 courses was imported in a single pass.

Automation

Newsletter with confirmation mail, social-media images generated from the course data, short links per course and a sitemap straight from the database. Less manual work, more time for the education work.

SEO from the start

Structured data per course, its own preview images, and addresses that stay valid even after a title change. The home page responds in around 120 milliseconds.
